Being a Person Named on an Arizona Contractor’s License

What does it mean for a person to be named on a contractor’s license?

The statute A.R.S. § 32-1101(A)(6) defines the phrase “named on a license”:

“Named on a license” means required to be identified pursuant to section 32-1122, subsection B.

If you review that referenced provision, you will see that the following people will need to be named on a contractor’s license:

The sole proprietor, if it’s a sole proprietorship

The partners in a partnership

For an LLC:

  • The managers
  • The members
  • Any owners of 25% or more

For a corporation:

  • The officers (president, vice president, secretary and treasurer)
  • The directors
  • Any owners of 25% or more

And the one person that every license must have is the qualifying party.
